Bear’s pinning feature lets you quickly access your notes and tags by moving them to the top of their lists. You can add and remove pins anytime.

Pinning notes

How to pin a note

You can pin a note from the note list by swiping a note cell left on iOS and right on macOS or by long-press/right-click menu.

Pin multiple notes

  • On iOS: Go to Note list header menu > Select Notes, then select the notes you want to pin. Tap the More (⫶) button at the bottom and select Pin to top
  • On Mac: Select multiple notes using ⌘ + Click, then right click and choose Pin to top

Where pinned notes appear?

Pinned notes behave differently depending on where you pin them:

  • Pinned in Notes, Archive, or Trash: The note stays pinned at the top of every list where it appears.
  • Pinned in a tag: The note appears as pinned only within that tag’s note list. The Pinned section under Notes in the Sidebar gathers all pinned notes—both local and global—for easy access.

Pinning tags

Pinning tags allows you to keep your most frequently used tags at the top of the Sidebar.

  • On iOS: Long press a tag in the Sidebar, then select Toggle Pin from the menu
  • On Mac: Right-click a tag in the Sidebar and select Pin Tag.

Note: Bear only supports pinning root tags. Currently it is not possible to pin nested tags.
